Back Suffolk Business.

Local business plays a huge role in our daily lives, in our community and is part of Suffolk's identity.

From Leo’s Deli in Framlingham, to the Man on the Moon in Ipswich, Revetts butcher in Wickham Market, to the Rampant Horse in Needham Market, and Milsoms in Kesgrave to the Lion in Debenham. We are blessed to have some fantastic independent businesses that support our way of life and make Suffolk a cradle of great products and services. We rely on them every day and without them, our county would look very different.

Our market towns are thriving hubs of small business with our farms exporting products across the worldLocal businesses create jobs that pay incomes and drive social mobility.

We often forget that each business is an engine of productivity, prosperity and growth. Without businesses, there would be no jobs. Jobs that offer young people their first step on to the career ladder. Jobs that deliver incomes and help people get on in life. Jobs that drive social mobility, giving people the opportunity to get on and get up in life. Britain at the moment is stuck in a rut, unable to get growth up, leaving the young generation increasingly anxious about our shared future. I don’t think it has to be that way. Yes, Government needs to sort out the country’s finances and reduce red tape, letting our private sector thrive. But in the meantime, we the people can do more to support the small and independent businesses that do so much to prop up our economy and society.

I am therefore launching a new campaign to support local businesses of all shapes and sizes by encouraging everyone to shop, eat, drink, visit, buy and invest local.

Sign the petition to indicate that you are committed to doing what you can to shop local and back independent businesses in your community. And check the map below to see which businesses operate in your area. There is no reason why you cannot do the weekly food shop, buy some office supplies, or get your partners birthday present from a business based locally here in Suffolk. If we all come together and back our local businesses, we can give our economy the boost it needs.
